Are you ready to see the stars shine at Simcoe Little Theatre?
The SLT 80th anniversary show, Where Stars Still Shine, filled with music, laughter, and nostalgia – a lot of nostalgia - runs Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, June 28 at 2 p.m.
The production celebrates many highlights of plays, musicals local celebrities and stories that have brought the community together Simcoe Little Theatre over the last 80 years.
Where Stars Still Shine, written and directed by Jan Rainey, assisted by Dave Kent, with stage manager JP Cullen, choreographer Naomi Auld, and musical directors Tony and Michelle Proracki, will put smiles on the faces of new and long-time theatre patrons. Audience clapping and singing are encouraged.
It promises to be a walk down memory lane and a look at the bright future of Simcoe Little Theatre.
“We kind of made it into segments, highlighting holiday shows, the female performers, male performers, comedy… it’s divided into sections,” said Rainey. “Together, with Dave, myself and the musical directors, selected the music.”
They are all alumni, said Rainey. Some go back as far as 30 years performing, or more, and some current Young Theatre Players.
The show will be presented in a format similar to Emmy and Tony Awards with host and hostess, and guest presenters introducing each segment.
It’s a blend of music and acting, said Rainey, and it will run just over two hours (with an intermission).
“It’s a lot of what I would call entertainment, focusing on music from the best musicals we’ve done, and pulling out excerpts from plays.”
“Jam-packed with non-stop excitement,” Kent smiled.
“It definitely looks back and talks about the history of Simcoe Little Theatre, and celebrates, we think, the best of the best of volunteer-run theatre,” said Rainey.
Tickets can be ordered through the SLT website (simcoelittletheatre.org) or by calling the box office (519-583-0505).
