Our 13th newspaper, the West Northumberland Independent, will launch on Thursday, September 3, 2026. This weekly newspaper will serve the western portion of Northumberland County, anchored by the towns of Cobourg and Port Hope along Lake Ontario.

 

Similar to our existing publications, the West Northumberland Independent will be available free of charge at pickup locations throughout the region and on our website at www.granthaven.com (and at www.wnuindy.ca).

Mail subscriptions will also be available for a fee to cover our shipping and handling costs.

 

The West Northumberland Independent will be Grant Haven Media’s first newspaper located east of Toronto. Discussions about the publication began thanks to a community-minded individual who reached out to us after reading one of our other publications.

 

Grant Haven’s motto is “restoring local journalism, one community at a time.”
