Visitors to the Tavistock Optimist Park pavilion may notice a new addition on the west side of town, offering expanded space for community events.
During a recent visit, Optimist Club members Ken Meadows and Tyler Roth — joined by Roth’s black Labrador, Lucy — said they were pleased with the progress completed so far.
With a busy schedule of events, the added space will help accommodate larger crowds under one roof. The pavilion regularly hosts popular fundraisers such as steak stags and the club’s well-attended “wing ding,” along with other activities supporting local youth.
The next phase of improvements will include installing an upgraded lighting system at the ball park to better support evening games.
Club members are encouraging community support for ongoing fundraising efforts to help maintain and enhance the park for youth of all ages.
Upcoming events include a bike rodeo on Friday, June 12, followed by Friday Night Fries. The Optimist Club’s steak stag is scheduled for Thursday, June 18 at the pavilion.
The Optimist Club reports it has reached about half of its $200,000 fundraising goal. For information or to donate, contact Jeff Schwartzentruber at 519-608-1503 or jeff.schwarzentruber@gmail.com
