The Tavistock Opti-Mrs continue to make a positive impact in the community through fundraising, volunteerism and support for local organizations.
Originally formed by a small group of women whose husbands were members of the Tavistock Optimist Club, the organization began with just five or six members meeting in each other’s homes.
Today, the Tavistock Opti-Mrs has grown to 22 members and continues to meet monthly on the second Thursday of each month from September through June.
The group’s purpose is to support charities, community projects and organizations in need throughout the Tavistock area, with all proceeds from its fundraising activities directed back into the community.
This past year, the club made two significant financial contributions locally, including a $5,000 donation to the Tavistock Optimist Club’s pavilion project and another planned $5,000 donation to Tavistock Community Health Inc. (TCHI).
Members say the donations reflect the organization’s commitment to supporting projects and services that make a meaningful difference in the community.
While the club may be relatively small in numbers, members say they remain a dedicated group of women committed to helping others while building strong friendships along the way.
The Tavistock Opti-Mrs are currently welcoming new members interested in giving back to the community, meeting new people and becoming involved with a caring volunteer organization.
Anyone interested in learning more about the group is encouraged to contact the club at tavistockoptimrs@gmail.com.
