For perhaps the only sunny day of the week, Tavistock Community Health Inc. (TCHI) board members gathered at the picturesque River Valley Golf Course near St. Marys for their annual invitational golf tournament fundraiser.

Now in its second year, the event continues to help the TCHI board raise funds toward recent upgrades at the Tavistock Medical Centre.

Longtime Tavistock family physician Dr. Paul Bartlett spoke briefly about the origins of the Tavistock Medical Clinic and its growth over the decades.

With a smile, Bartlett noted many of the golfers attending the tournament had likely been delivered by him during his years of medical practice.

Three of Bartlett's four sons – Brett, Jeremy and Mark – joined their father on the course in support of the fundraiser.

The sons joked that their father was fortunate he chose medicine rather than golf as a career.

TCHI board secretary Carolyn Kropf and board member and tournament chair Dennis Kuepfer were pleased with the strong turnout and support for the event.

They noted anyone unable to participate in the tournament but wishing to support the fundraising campaign can still make a donation by contacting Kropf at cjgkropf@gmail.com.

Board members said donations of any amount are appreciated as they work toward reaching their fundraising goal.
