Stonebridge presence at Norwich Medical Centre formalized

Deemed to be a program on solid footing, Norwich councillors have voted to make the Township’s partnership with Stonebridge Community Services permanent.

After a successful trial of the non-profit’s foot care clinic offering services in the Norwich Medical Centre on a regular basis, councillors supported a staff recommendation to formalize the setup and begin charging a small fee for Stonebridge to use the space.

“It sounds like they were very, very happy with how everything went,” said AJ Wells, manager of medical services

Back in February, council approved the trial run. Stonebridge is a Tillsonburg-based organization, but had previously been providing foot care services to Norwich residents on a visiting basis. At the time, they suggested having a drop-in site could allow them to serve even more clients as it would reduce travel time.

With the four-month trial proving successful, the move to a more formal arrangement will include a $50 per day fee for Stonebridge to use the centre facilities. Wells said it’s less than what they charge to for-profit organizations. Everything else will remain more or less the same.
