Kim Sage aims for councillor position

A local restaurant co-owner is hoping to capture one of six seats on Tillsonburg council.

Kim Sage was born and raised on a tobacco farm outside of Tillsonburg, but always considered it “our town”. She attended Glendale High School, went to London for college and then moved back to Tillsonburg, where she raised her family.

Sage has been active in numerous groups over the years, including Tillsonburg Minor Soccer, Tillsonburg Minor Baseball, Ladies Slo-Pitch, Big Brothers and Sisters, Victim’s Assistance Program, Parks & Rec Committee, Annandale PTA, and Tillsonburg Turtlefest. As a co-owner of the Copper Mug, she has continued to support many local causes.

“We like to stay connected to the community and local organizations through our business,” she said.

She filed her nomination papers on Aug. 17. Asked why she decided to run for council, Sage answered, “To give back to the community and be a voice.”

Over the next four years she sees the challenges facing the town to be the town’s growth, infrastructure, displaced persons, mental health, doctor shortages, and affordable housing.

She has been reviewing the minutes online to follow what has been happening with council.
