Goderich Co-op Gallery welcomes its June visiting artist — a photographer whose lifelong love of the land speaks to everyone who knows and loves the Huron County landscape.

Peggy Sloan was born and raised in Walton, Ontario, a small farming community in the heart of Huron County. Growing up surrounded by open landscapes and ever-changing skies gave her a deep appreciation for nature’s quiet beauty and subtle transformations — an appreciation that has stayed with her throughout her life and that now finds its fullest expression in her photography.

Photography has been a lifelong passion for Sloan — a creative practice through which she explores presence, perspective, and connection.

She is drawn to the fleeting moments that often go unnoticed: the shifting quality of light, the movement of weather across a landscape, the unique energy held within a single moment in time.

Her work combines technical exploration with an intuitive awareness of the world. Through experimentation with shutter speed, aperture, composition, and light, she seeks to capture not only what is seen, but what is felt.

A familiar landscape, she finds, can be transformed through changing conditions, perspective, and emotion — revealing new layers of beauty with each encounter.

After more than 28 years as an educator, Sloan brings to her creative practice a deep belief in reflection and growth.

Through her images, she hopes to invite viewers to pause, reflect, and experience a sense of peace and inner tranquility through the quiet power of the natural world.

Peggy Sloan’s work will be on display at the Goderich Co-op Gallery throughout the month of June.
