Grace United Church musician recognized for dedication to church music

Music plays an important role in worship services, and many churches are fortunate to have talented musicians and choir directors who help enrich the experience for congregations each week.

At Grace United Church in Tavistock, Marilyne Nystrom has faithfully served as organist, pianist and choir director for regular Sunday services, as well as special Christmas and Easter celebrations that require additional musical leadership.

Congregation members say Nystrom's contributions are greatly appreciated. In addition to accompanying services, she directs the church choir, regularly introducing new music that enhances worship and provides a fresh experience for the congregation.

During Sunday's service, Nystrom once again showcased her musical talents by performing on the flute accompanied by a programmed piano arrangement. The performance demonstrated the versatility she brings to the church's music ministry.

For her postlude selection, Nystrom performed “The Wind Beneath My Wings” on the flute, accompanied by piano. The piece drew the attention of those attending the 10:30 a.m. service and served as a fitting conclusion to the morning's worship.

Through her ongoing dedication and musical abilities, Nystrom continues to make an important contribution to Grace United Church and its congregation.
