There won’t be a lot of change for the next council term in the Township of Hamilton, according to Monday night’s unofficial election results.
Early on, it was announced Scott Jibb was acclaimed as mayor, along with Deputy Mayor Larry Williamson.
Councillors Bruce Buttar and John Davison also secured their bids for re-election, while Patricia “Pat” McCourt is returning to the fold following long-time Coun. Mark Lovshin’s retirement.
Election results still need to be certified but early numbers suggest voter turnout was about 23.7 per cent, with 2,553 of 10,760 eligible electors casting their ballots, reported the township, on Monday night.
Voter turnout dipped slightly in comparison to 2022 at 27.1 per cent.
There was no in-person election announcement Monday night.
The inauguration of the new council is set for Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. in council chambers.
This is an initial breaking story for election night.
