Winter parking restrictions are back in effect in the Town of Cobourg.

The restrictions officially came back into effect as of Nov. 1 and are needed to ensure safe and efficient snow removal operations during the winter season, said town staff.

“It is especially important that collector and arterial roads (major roads) remain clear for safe

passage,” explained staff.

What this means for residents is there’s no parking permitted on designated collector and arterial roads until March 31 between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

In accordance with the town’s parking bylaw, officials are also reminding residents to not park vehicles in any way that obstructs snow removal this coming winter season – and that parking is prohibited on any highway when a snow or significant weather event declaration has been made.

Staff added that a full list of streets people can’t park on overnight is available via the town’s website.

In terms of additional reminders, Cobourg’s bylaw also states that during the winter no parking at any time is permitted on all cul-de-sacs and wide corners, laneways and one-way streets.

More information relating to snow clearing and the like is accessible via www.cobourg.ca/snow.
