A chance to give back: Northumberland OPP auxiliary recruitment info session coming up

By West Northumberland Independent staff
If you’re looking for a way to give back, Northumberland OPP is looking for community-minded individuals who are eager to learn more about volunteer opportunities with the OPP auxiliary unit.
To offer people a chance to learn about opportunities, OPP has a recruitment information session in the works for Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Cramahe Fire Department hall.
“The information session will provide attendees with an overview of the OPP auxiliary program, including volunteer opportunities, training requirements, and the important role auxiliary members play in supporting policing and community safety initiatives across Ontario,” explained Northumberland OPP. “Participants will also have an opportunity to meet auxiliary members, ask questions about the recruitment process and learn firsthand about their experiences serving their communities.”
In addition, attendees will have a chance to get up-close with OPP vehicles and talk with auxiliary members about careers, volunteer service and community engagement initiatives.
“The OPP auxiliary program offers volunteers a unique opportunity to contribute to public safety while supporting community events, crime prevention initiatives, traffic safety campaigns and public education programs alongside police officers,” said OPP.
While people interested in learning more and attending are being encouraged to register in advance through Eventbrite online, registration isn’t mandatory and walk-ins are welcome, noted police.
OPP also has more information available on its auxiliary program via www.opp.ca.
“Anyone with a strong commitment to community service, professionalism and public safety is encouraged to attend and discover how they can make a difference through volunteer service with the OPP auxiliary unit.”
The Cramahe Fire Department hall is located at 232 Purdy Rd.
