Two longtime employees at PeopleCare Tavistock were recognized last week for their exceptional dedication and years of service to the community’s long-term care home.

Deb Wettlaufer, who has worked at PeopleCare for 50 years, and Deb Rutledge, who has marked 25 years of service, were honoured during a ceremony attended by family members, co-workers, residents and invited guests. Both women have spent much of their working lives caring for residents and supporting staff at the Tavistock facility.

Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman was on hand to congratulate the pair, noting that such long-term commitment to a single organization is increasingly rare. He praised both women for their dedication and the positive impact they have had on residents, families and colleagues over the decades.

Owners O’Derald, Mary and Heather Gingerich also shared their appreciation, calling the milestone a remarkable achievement and a reflection of the values behind the PeopleCare name. They said Wettlaufer and Rutledge exemplify what it means to truly care for people in the community.

The celebration also acknowledged the efforts of all PeopleCare staff, particularly following the move into the new long-term care building on Oct. 28, 2025. Management commended employees for the extra work and teamwork involved in ensuring a smooth transition for residents during the relocation.
