Visitors attending this year’s annual Tavistock Men’s Club fish fry will now enjoy a much smoother walk into the club grounds thanks to a newly paved driveway completed last week.
Local contractor Fraser Paving of Stratford was hired to pave the laneway leading into the Men’s Club property on Woodstock Street North ahead of the popular annual perch barbecue set for June 3 from 4-7 p.m.
Workers spent last week completing the paving project, something Men’s Club members say has been needed for quite some time.
Men’s Club president Brian Boland said the project was important for both safety and accessibility for guests and members attending events at the clubhouse.
“It was a long time coming for the safety of our guests and membership,” Boland said.
The annual fish fry remains one of the Men’s Club’s most popular community events and regularly attracts large crowds from across the region.
Boland reminded residents tickets are available Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. and again from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the clubhouse. Tickets will also be available June 1-3 until sold out, which typically happens every year.
The Men’s Club’s well-known sauerkraut will also be available for purchase during ticket sales for $5 per bag.
Fraser Paving, based in Stratford, completes paving work throughout Tavistock, Stratford, New Hamburg, Woodstock and surrounding rural areas, including farmyards and laneways.
The company previously completed paving work on the walking path surrounding the Shakespeare Optimist Park and soccer fields several years ago.
