Stratford Aces compete at the Stoney Creek Showcase

During the weekend of Sept. 11 to 13, the Stratford U18 AA Humphrey Fleet Service Aces took part in the U18 AA Stoney Creek Showcase in Hamilton.
In their first game of the round robin on the morning of Sept. 11, the Aces faced the Markham-Stouffville Stars. Led by goals from Megan Graham and Jule Cameron, the Aces edged the Stars 2-1.
Stratford faced the Bishop Kearney Selects in the afternoon game and lost 3-1. Emily Stiles from Cameron and Macy Fischer scored the lone goal for the Aces.
On Sept. 12, the Aces faced Team Illinois in the morning and suffered their second straight loss, 4-3 in overtime. Hannah Dalton scored two goals, Brooklynn Ahrens scored once and Graham contributed two assists.
In the late afternoon game to conclude the preliminary round, Ahrens scored a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, leading the Aces to a 2-1 win over the Whitby Wolves. Kylin Wilson got an assist on the Aces’ first goal. The Aces finished the round robin tied for fourth in the Carter Division with a record of 1-0-1-1 with six points.
In the placement game on Sept. 13, the Aces settled for a 2-2 draw with the East Ottawa Stars. Kacey and Macy scored for the Aces.
Graham led the Aces with three assists and four points, while Ahrens led the team with three goals in the tournament. Netminders Callie Aldridge and Leicia Baldwin combined for a 2.17 goals-against-average in five appearances.
Next up for the Aces is an exhibition weekend at the William Allman Memorial Arena against the Mississauga Chiefs on Sept. 19 and the North York Storm on Sept. 20.
