Pittock hosts Birds-of-Prey

Pittock Conservation Area welcomed visitors on Saturday, Aug. 1, for a dynamic wildlife showcase as the Canadian Raptor Conservancy returned to deliver its popular Live Birds of Prey Presentation at the Rec Centre. Guests enjoyed an engaging educational experience featuring some of North America’s most iconic raptors. The Conservancy’s expert handlers introduced a diverse lineup of species, including the Harris Hawk, Great Horned Owl, Eastern Screech Owl, American Kestrel and Bald Eagle. Attendees learned about each bird’s behaviour, ecological role, and conservation needs, gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of protecting natural habitats. “This was a fantastic opportunity for families, nature lovers, and photographers to see these incredible birds up close,” said staff at Pittock Conservation Area. “The Canadian Raptor Conservancy always delivers an engaging and informative show, and we were thrilled to host them again.” The presentation was included with regular park admission, and many visitors arrived early to enjoy Pittock’s scenic trails, waterfront views, and recreational amenities before the show.
