Northumberland County is inviting families with young children to an upcoming “Family Expo” in Cobourg.

The expo, which runs on Monday, Oct. 26, is a free community event that offers a space for families to play, explore, discover local programs and services, and connect with other parents and caregivers.

Designed with families in mind, the Family Expo brings together a variety of organizations that support children, youth, parents and caregivers “all in one welcoming space,” said the county, in a recent release.

“From hands-on activities and interactive exhibits to opportunities to meet service providers and learn more about local supports, there is something for every family to enjoy.”

Families can also explore the EarlyON Child and Family Centre, including the Inaate’abiwin Indigenous playroom and accessible outdoor playground. Plus, “Zoo to You” will be on site from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., offering educational activities and the opportunity to get up-close with animals and reptiles.

“We invite local families to come connect with local organizations, discover available supports, and enjoy a fun day together,” said Lesley Patterson, Northumberland County’s Early Years services manager. “By bringing community partners together in one location, we hope to make it easier for families to learn the many resources available to them, while also getting the chance to meet other families, play and learn together.”

Parents and caregivers will have also the chance to connect with Five Counties Children Centre, EarlyON Northumberland, community and social services, Northumberland Child Development Centre, Rebound Child and Youth Services, YMCA Northumberland, Northumberland United Way, Lakelands Public Health, Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, Peterborough, Victoria, Northumberland and Clarington Catholic School Board, Community Health Centres of Northumberland, Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiyag Child and Family Services, Brighton Public Library and the Compass Early Learning and Care-Beehive Program.

The expo takes place at the EarlyON Child and Family Centre, which is located at 800 Division St.
