Music for Magnetic Moments to raise funds for MRI campaign

Lake Huron Catholic Family of Parishes is hosting Music for Magnetic Moments on Friday, October 23 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church to raise funds for the MRI campaign at AMGH.
Organised by 16-year-old local musician Alexa Yeo, the evening will also feature performances by Yeo, along with Hearthstone and Maggie Grace.
Yeo says she decided to organise this musical fundraising event to use her talents and inspire others to also share their music to help raise money for this piece of medical equipment to come to the community.
Her mother and grandmother also have MRIs and always must travel far, as waitlists are long. Yeo would love to see an MRI machine in town and wanted to find a way to help raise more money.
Due to the generous donation of the space by the Lake Huron Catholic Family of Parishes, to act as the hosts for the event, alongside Brendan Couture Audio who is donating the sound equipment and his time to facilitate sound at the concert, this means 100 per cent of proceeds brought in at the door will go towards the AMGH Magnetic Moments campaign.
When Yeo heard there was a fundraiser for an MRI machine to be put in the Goderich hospital, she thought it would be appropriate to be part of something close to her heart.
With both her mother and grandmother travelling far due to waiting lists to receive imaging in other communities, Yeo understands the importance of bringing that technology to Goderich and Huron County.
“I decided to do a concert because people like to listen to music and it is something I could put together to hopefully make a lot of money for the campaign,” said Yeo.
The young musician plans on playing some harp tunes, alongside a few favourite covers from the country genre.
The event will feature a variety of musicians including other harpists and singer-songwriters or Celtic folk bands.
Yeo is hoping to raise $5,000 with this musical fundraiser. Entry is by cash donation at the door and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the campaign.
