Several Campbellford residents are facing a slew of charges after a raid in Trent Hills and an alleged seizure involving a loaded handgun, say police.

According to Northumberland OPP, on Aug. 27, 2026, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland community street crime unit – with help from OPP’s tactics and rescue unit, emergency response team and canine unit – executed a search warrant at a Grand Road residence.

“Three individuals fled on foot from the property and were subsequently arrested nearby,” reported OPP, in a subsequent update, adding that as a result of the search, officers allegedly seized a loaded firearm.

“The investigation remains ongoing, and police are seeking a fourth individual in connection with the incident,” said police, at press deadline.

As a result of the probe so far, police said a 44-year-old Campbellford resident was charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, tampering with a serial number of a firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Further, police said a 45-year-old Campbellford resident was charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, tampering with a serial number of a firearm, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, and failure to comply with probation order.

A third Campbellford resident, 39, was also charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, tampering with a serial number of a firearm, failure to comply with probation order, and careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

None of these charges have been proven in court.
