A traffic stop in Cramahe last week has led to a slew of charges for an Oakville resident, says Northumberland OPP.

According to OPP, on Oct. 23, 2026, at about 12:45 a.m., an officer conducting patrol on County Road 25 stopped a passenger vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation near Hwy. 401.

After speaking with the motorist, police said they initiated an impaired driving investigation, which led to an individual being taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

The investigation also allegedly revealed additional offences.

As a result of the probe, police said a 40-year-old Oakville resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), operation while prohibited, U-turn – bridge – no clear view, driving with open liquor, driving with no licence, failure to comply with an undertaking, and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

None of these charges have been proven in court.

In addition to a future court date, the accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Northumberland OPP said work continues on public safety and to deliver proactive and innovative policing, in partnership with member communities. Officers also value citizens’ contributions to building safe communities and ask if you have information about suspected unlawful activity to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
