Do you have an inner artist that is waiting to bud? Perhaps a little liquid inhibition will help?

The Tillsonburg Lions Club is hosting an event on Nov. 24 called Pour and Paint that combines the chance to complete a painting and enjoy a special drink.

“It’s $45 per person and includes a beverage as part of signing up, and we’ll also have some hordeveues through the evening,” said Lions President David Pipher.

Pipher has lived in Tillsonburg for only three years. Recently retired, he worked in emergency services and always dabbled in painting, which he picked back up after retiring. He and his wife are both members of the Station Arts Centre. David concentrates on portraits, and his wife, Vera, on scenery.

Saying it’s a social event and stressing that no previous experience is needed, Pipher said Paint and Pour is similar to other events where restaurants have an artist come in to complete paintings.

“It’s a social event,” he said.

The Carriage House will serve a signature drink for the event, in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions. The event is open to those 19 and older. Pipher will lead participants through completing a landscape. He advised wearing clothing that it doesn’t matter if paint gets on it, or wearing an apron.

Paint and Pour starts at 6:30 and winds down at 9:30. The goal is to complete the painting within that time.

Having a long history of raising money for community facilities and causes, the event is something new for the Lions Club.

“This is something different for the Lions Club,” Pipher said. “We’re trying to do different things in the community, get more involved.”

All proceeds from the evening will go to the Helping Hand Food Bank, and participants are also asked to bring a canned food donation.
