Kim Sage, who was running for one of Tillsonburg’s six council seats, has decided not to serve if elected.

Sage posted on Facebook last Monday, saying she would not take a council seat if elected. Since it’s too late to withdraw, she asked people not to vote for her.

“My family needs me more is the gist of it,” she said Thursday. “Something came up, I knew I would have to highly focus on, and I didn’t know how long I would have to focus on it.”

Sage said if her personal issues dragged on for a longer period, it would be difficult for her to focus on family and, if elected, council.

“Without being able to give 110 per cent to council, I wouldn’t be effective and it’s not worth me doing it,” she said.

Sage hopes to run again in the future. She noted that her family situation would not affect the operation of the Copper Mug.
