Here’s where to get your election results Monday night in west Northumberland

If you’re wondering where to find out who’s won the races on municipal election night in west Northumberland, we have you covered.
In Port Hope, election results will be posted online via the municipality’s website and social media channels and announced live in-person at the historic Capitol Theatre.
Across the county, voting will be open until 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26 for the 2026 municipal and school board election.
Port Hope officials anticipate unofficial results to be announced after 8:30 p.m. on election night and said results will simultaneously be posted online.
At the Capitol Theatre, doors are set to open at 7:30 p.m.
“Following the close of voting and verification of results, the results will be projected on the stage screen and announced by the clerk,” explained the municipality, adding it’s anticipated this will occur after 8:30 p.m. (Note: Candidates aren’t required to attend this or any other in-person gatherings on election night.)
In-person results used to be announced at Port Hope Town Hall (as was the case in 2018) but the municipality transitioned to the theatre in 2022, and again this year says this is needed as town hall is being used a voter assistance centre until 8 p.m. on election day.
For election night in Cobourg, town staff said once results are tallied and verified, the municipal clerk/returning officer will share unofficial results on a projection screen in the Concert Hall at Victoria Hall.
“All Cobourg residents are invited to attend and view the unofficial results as they are released,” said staff.
The official results will also be published via www.CobourgVotes.ca/results, and staff have committed to issuing a public notice.
In the Township of Hamilton, deputy clerk Amanda Millar told the Independent the township has decided to not do an in-person announcement this term.
“Instead, we’re inviting residents to watch for official results on our website at hamiltontownship.ca/election-results after the close of voting at 8 p.m.,” said Millar, noting that in 2022, results were finalized around 8:30 p.m. “and we anticipate (a) similar timeline for announcing on (Oct.) 26 as well.”
However, timing can always vary, noted officials.
In the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, returning/officer municipal clerk Emily Cartlidge said unofficial results will be announced in various formats online and are not expected before 8:15 p.m. at the earliest. Results may also be later based on election closing procedures and reporting, added Cartlidge.
For this election, the township plans to post its unofficial results via a pop-up on the township’s website at www.ahtwp.ca, the dedicated election’s webpage at www.ahtwp.ca/elections, on Facebook and through a live YouTube broadcast (@alnwickhaldimandtownshipah6784.)
The expected YouTube broadcast start time is 8:10 p.m., but again, is subject to change based on the closing of polls, noted Cartlidge.
Additionally, physical results will be posted to the town hall front door in Grafton on County Road 2.
