With the 2026 municipal and school board election approaching, County of Brant residents are reminded to check their mailboxes for their Voter Information Letter, which contains the instructions needed to cast a ballot.
Eligible voters should have received their letters by Oct. 12. Anyone who has not received a letter by now should contact the County of Brant Elections Coordinator to confirm their information and obtain a replacement.
This year's election will look different, with the County moving entirely to online and telephone voting. There will be no traditional paper ballots or polling stations.
Voting opens Monday, Oct. 19 at 9 a.m. and continues until Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
Once residents receive their Voter Information Letter, they can follow the instructions provided to vote using a computer, smartphone, tablet or telephone.
For online voting, residents will visit the official election voting website identified in their letter and enter their unique identifying information and date of birth. They can then make their selections, review their choices and submit their ballot electronically.
Those voting by telephone will call the number provided in their letter, enter their identifying information and date of birth, and follow automated instructions to make their selections using the telephone keypad.
Once a ballot is submitted, it cannot be changed or recast.
Voters will select their preferred mayoral candidate, councillor candidates for their ward and the applicable school board trustee.
Residents who require assistance or do not have access to the internet can visit one of several Voter Assistance Locations throughout the County. Paris locations include the Brant Sports Complex, Cedarview Church, Cowan Community Health Hub, North Ward School, Paris Customer Service Office and Sojourn Church.
Dates and hours vary by location. Residents can find details at www.brant.ca/voting. Internet-enabled devices will also be available at County libraries and customer service offices during regular business hours once voting opens.
Residents who need to be added to the voters' list, update their information or obtain a replacement Voter Information Letter should contact Elections Coordinator Ryan Leverton at 519-442-7268, ext. 2207, toll-free at 1-855-442-7268, ext. 2207, or by email at election@brant.ca.
