Grace United Church in Tavistock joined many churches across the area in celebrating Easter Sunday with a special service marking one of the most important days in the Christian calendar.

Members of the congregation gathered to reflect on the meaning of Easter, with church members Diane Harris and Connor Shantz welcoming those in attendance while dressed in Biblical-era clothing to help recreate the atmosphere of the first Easter Sunday centuries ago.

The service also welcomed residents and staff from the nearby Maples long-term-care home, who attended as part of the Easter celebration.

Following the Easter message delivered by Rev. Marilyn Arthur, communion was shared among the large congregation in attendance.

Easter Sunday at Grace United Church began earlier in the day with a sunrise service organized and led by youth and young adults from the congregation. The morning continued with a breakfast hosted by the church’s Middle Aged Pews group.

Church organizers also reminded the community about the ongoing High Noon luncheon program held at Grace United Church on the second Thursday of each month. This week’s luncheon will feature guest speaker Chip Bender.
