Trick-or-treaters of all ages will frolic to downtown Stratford for the annual trick-or-treating event on Halloween afternoon.

The Downtown Stratford Business Improvement Area (BIA) will host the annual Trick-Or-Treating event on Oct. 31 from 1-3 p.m. As of Oct. 20, the day of the interview with the Times, 68 downtown businesses and organizations have signed up to participate and hand out candy and other items. Jamie Pritchard, general manager of the BIA, said there will likely be more businesses joining the list of participating vendors.

“I'm really excited about the participation this year,” he said.

The last Trick-Or-Treating event held on Oct. 25, 2025 brought in around 450 kids to the BIA’s station at Destination Stratford. Pritchard is expecting around 600 kids to participate in the upcoming event.

"It's really great to see how busy the streets are with flocks of ghosts and goblins and superheroes all running down the street,” Pritchard said.

The event also brings in plenty of foot traffic for downtown Stratford’s businesses.

"Everybody enjoys it and I hear all the stories of them running out of candy and having to run to the drugstore, Shoppers or Sinclair's to buy some more bags of candy to keep themselves going,” said Pritchard.

The BIA Trick-Or-Treating event ensures a safe trick-or-treating environment for families and gives parents a chance to go shopping, eat lunch and/or have a coffee in the area.

"I'd like to invite everyone to come down and enjoy the Halloween tradition and just experience downtown at its best,” Pritchard said.

The annual Pumpkin Parade will follow at Stratford City Hall on Nov. 1. Residents can drop off their pumpkins for one last display before they are brought to the landfill.
