Can you help? Investigation continues after alleged break-and-enter in Cobourg

Cobourg police are calling on the public for help with an ongoing break-and-enter probe and are looking for individuals who were on electric scooters at the time of the alleged incident.
According to the Cobourg Police Service, two Strathy Road businesses were damaged during the early morning hours of Sept. 17, 2026, and the investigation was initiated after a report that the front doors of two businesses were damaged.
Through a review of surveillance footage, investigators said they determined on Sept. 17, at about 2:45 a.m., an unknown individual gained entry to one of the businesses and allegedly stole cash.
“The front glass door of the business was damaged during the incident,” reported police. “A neighbouring business also sustained damage to the glass front door.”
At press deadline, investigators said they were still working to determine if any property was taken from the neighbouring business.
CCTV footage also captured two individuals believed to be connected to the incident riding electric scooters in the area around the time of the incident, and police said they’re looking to identify the individuals.
Police are asking anyone with information or video footage of the surrounding area between 2 and 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 to reach out to CPS at 905-372-6821 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting stopcrimehere.ca.
Tipsters through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward and do not have to testify in court.
At press deadline, the investigation was ongoing, and no other information was available.
