St. Marys Lincolns’ president Brandon Boyd was recognized by the Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) with the league’s Executive of the Year Award April 8.
Boyd became Lincolns’ president in 2016 and has overseen a renaissance for the club, presiding over a stretch of six consecutive seasons of the Lincolns advancing to at least the second round of the playoffs, including four straight conference finals from 2023 to 2026, a Western Conference title in 2024, and a Commissioner’s Cup in 2025 for having the league’s best regular season record.
Boyd was humble in discussing the award.
“It’s a reflection of the many people throughout the organization and town that have helped bring stability to junior hockey in St. Marys,” said Boyd. “Junior hockey brings people together from many backgrounds, and I’m grateful for the new relationships that have come along the way. Overall, it’s just about being surrounded by a great network of people, and hopefully we’re doing it in a way to create a fulfilling experience for all involved.”
During his tenure, Boyd has brought a thoughtful, reasoned and meticulous attention to detail to the Lincolns’ executive branch, ensuring the team is always making as informed and considered decisions as possible.
Lincolns’ general manager Pat Powers called Boyd vital to everything the Lincolns do.
“Brandon (Boyd) is the heartbeat of our organization, and he makes all of the on-ice success possible with his efforts off the ice,” Powers told the Independent. “Brandon is instrumental in any success our organization has.”
Boyd has also been a prominent figure at the league level, contributing at a high level to the league’s decision-making and being regarded as one of the most thoughtful and valuable voices amongst the league’s top executives.
“In St. Marys, you’re not playing or working under a private entity; you’re playing for a community, which has always been part of our identity, especially as a smaller town,” Boyd said. “Maintaining cohesion between board, management and staff remains a big priority for continued success and longevity.
“We’re fortunate to have Pat (Powers) as GM and Jeff (Bradley) as head coach on staff, who have proven the ability to develop players and contend year over year.”
