BBBS Day celebrated across Oxford County

Oxford County marked Big Brothers Big Sisters Day on Sept. 14 with a series of flag raising ceremonies held in association with Truth and Reconciliation. The day began at 10 a.m. at the Oxford County Administration Building, continuing at 10:30 a.m. in Museum Square in downtown Woodstock, and concluding at 1 p.m. at the Oxford–Broadway Parkette in Tillsonburg. Community members, dignitaries, volunteers, and supporters gathered to honour the mentoring relationships that strengthen local youth and to acknowledge the shared commitment to respect, understanding, and a brighter future for young people across the county. Each ceremony featured brief remarks highlighting how mentoring relationships foster confidence, resilience, and belonging among local youth. Speakers also reflected on the shared values between Big Brothers Big Sisters and Truth and Reconciliation—particularly the importance of creating safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive. The events underscored the community’s commitment to celebrating mentorship and acknowledging the role it plays in building a more inclusive future. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County facilitates supportive mentoring relationships for children and youth. By partnering young people with committed volunteers, the organization helps foster resilience, confidence, and brighter futures—igniting the power and potential of every child.
