The tranquil fields of Deep Purple Lavender Farm came alive with artistry and inspiration as guests gathered for Lavender Evening: A Creative Experience in the Lavender Fields, hosted by Dawna Thurtell (dawnathurtell@gmail.com) of The Art Social. The event, held on July 29, offered participants a chance to sip, paint, and connect amid the fragrant blooms of over 4,000 lavender plants. Nestled in a scenic valley surrounded by a natural spring and wooded ravine, the family run farm provided a serene backdrop for the evening’s activities. Attendees arrived to find rows of English and French lavender swaying gently in the summer breeze, their soft hues mirrored in watercolour palettes and sketchbooks spread across rustic tables. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, inviting both seasoned artists and first time painters to explore their creativity. Throughout the two hour session, participants engaged in guided art exercises designed to capture the delicate beauty of the lavender fields. The Art Social’s facilitators encouraged experimentation and self expression, reminding guests that no prior experience was needed—only a willingness to create. Laughter and conversation flowed easily as brushes met paper, and the scent of lavender infused every moment with calm. As twilight settled over the valley, the event concluded with a quiet reflection period, allowing guests to share their finished pieces and exchange stories about their creative process. Many remarked on the therapeutic nature of painting outdoors and the sense of community that emerged among strangers united by art and nature. Organizers expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic turnout and the support of residents who helped make the evening a success.
