Having lived in ACW his entire life, Murray Curran is now seeking a position with the ACW Council.

With a strong connection to the community, Curran has owned and operated a cash crop and beef cow farm since 1996.

Curran says he is running for council because he is disappointed in the way the township has been run and is concerned that many non-locals are trying to get in power.

Curran served on ACW Council from 2010 until 2014.

He is currently serving a second nine-year term as a director for the Lucknow district Co-op and has served as a director on a cattle feeder finance coop in previous years.

“I do not think I am set apart from the other candidates, but I do believe my views are more aligned with most of the locals,” admitted Curran.

“The constituents should consider voting for me if they want someone who has common sense and no desire to spend money on non-essential wants, over needs.”

In spring 2026, Curran and his son opened Huron Shores Marine and Equipment in Goderich and continues to educate himself by taking courses on accounting and finance.

If elected, Curran would like to change when council meetings are held, to allow for more citizens to be a part of proceedings.

Another priority issue for Curran is replacing roads and bridges to create safer transportation.

“My vision is to provide what is needed in the community over what is wanted,” Curran stated.

“To achieve this, I intend to concentrate on repairing or replacing aging infrastructure before considering creating new infrastructure that will require more funding to maintain.”

If elected, Curran’s biggest goal is to get one bridge between Dungannon Road and Hawkins Road suitable for farm equipment.

“I am a big believed in saving money,” added Curran.

“I will not look at the residents as a cash cow to spend money foolishly. I strongly believe this township does not require a tax increase every year.”

Each candidate was presented with the same interview questions. What is presented in these profiles, is a result of the responses received.
