The Goderich Co-op Gallery is pleased to welcome Lisa Golem as its visiting artist for October. Golem is a member of the gallery and lives in the Goderich area.

Where Music Lives looks at the places music can be found beyond listening to it. In Golem's paintings, instruments appear out of landscapes. Rhythm shows up in city lights and their reflections. Sound takes shape through colour, movement and imagination.

Some of the paintings began with a musical idea. In others, the music only appeared as the painting developed. The collection moves between landscape, abstraction and a touch of whimsy. It invites viewers to look a little longer and find where music might be hiding: in nature, in unexpected places, and perhaps within ourselves.

Painting and music have been part of Golem's life for as long as she can remember. In this exhibition, the two come together as one visual language, where the world is something to be listened to as well as seen.

Her exhibition, Where Music Lives, opens with a reception on Saturday, October 3, at 2 p.m. at the gallery, 54 Courthouse Square, Lower Level (downstairs from Elizabeth's Art Gallery). Golem will give a live painting demonstration at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Where Music Lives will be on display throughout October. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the second Wednesday of the month, October 14, it opens at 12 p.m. and stays open until 5 p.m. For more information, visit gcgallery.ca.
