Three people are facing charges and Cobourg and Port Hope police say they’ve taken more than $80,000 worth of drugs off the streets.

Initially, the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) put out a release last Thursday, Oct. 15, saying two individuals were facing drug-trafficking charges after an investigation led to the alleged seizure of about $80,000 worth of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.

According to police, on Oct. 14, 2026, as the result of an ongoing investigation into drug-trafficking in the Cobourg and surrounding areas, members of CPS’ street crime enforcement unit, with help from the Port Hope Police Service (PHPS) and CPS uniform patrol, executed a search warrant at a Port Hope residence.

As a result of the probe, police allege they seized about 162 grams of suspected fentanyl, 94 grams of suspected cocaine, 26 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, a knife and collapsible baton, scales, cellphones, packaging material, and unmarked cigarettes.

“The total street value of the drugs seized was approximately $80,000,” reported police.

As a result of the investigation, police initially reported that a 38-year-old Cobourg resident and a 36-year-old Port Hope resident were jointly charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – cocaine, possession for purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – crystal methamphetamine, and possession of unmarked cigarettes.

On Monday, Oct. 19, CPS issued another release saying a third arrest was made in connection with the investigation that led to the warrant executed in Port Hope on Oct. 14.

Police said on Monday, another 54-year-old Port Hope resident was arrested by the Port Hope Police Service on the strength of an outstanding warrant and returned to CPS.

Police said the accused was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance – crystal methamphetamine, possession of unmarked cigarettes, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

None of these charges have been proven in court.
