Royal Canadian Legion Paris Branch 29 President Barry Humphrey visited the 1st Paris Scouting Group on November 5th at Paris District High School, delivering a moving presentation on the true meaning of Remembrance Day.

The members listened attentively as Humphrey explained the history of the day, the symbolism of the poppy, the year-long celebrations happening at Paris Branch 29 to mark their 100th anniversary and the community-wide Poppy Project.

The members proudly held some of the almost 4000 hand-crafted poppies created for the centennial display, a tangible reminder of the promise to never forget.

A lively question-and-answer session followed, with young voices asking about veterans, the poppy’s origins, and how they could help. “Seeing these bright faces holding our poppies tells me the Legion’s story will surely live on for another 100 years,” Humphrey said.
