Junior basketball Raiders grow as a unit through Friendly City Classic consolation title
The Delhi Raiders junior boys basketball team grew as a unit during a consolation championship run through the 2026 Friendly City Classic basketball tournament.
“Our defensive play improved, we competed hard against stronger opponents and players stepped up in key moments,” said coach Bryan Sweazey. “We represented the school well with effort and sportsmanship, kept together and played unselfish.”

Knight of Columbus free throwers take aim
Students competing in the annual Delhi-LaSalette Knights of Columbus Council 5095 Free Throw Championships in Delhi took the first step on Jan. 21.
Ten winners, ages 9-13, from Delhi Public School, Saint Frances Cabrini School, and Teeterville Public School qualified to compete at the Knights of Columbus district championship, on March 1, at Holy Trinity School in Simcoe. Registration starts at 12 p.m. and they are expected to start competing about 1 p.m.

OPP consider offender management program
When the courts place conditions on a person living in Norfolk, the local OPP detachment will be paying attention.

Dondie Deming is the administrator for Kindness Kounts Norfolk County, with nearly 5,000 Facebook members.

Team King curlers advance to 2026 Canadian Brier

Tax sale nets $387,000 for Norfolk County
A tax sale in November netted nearly $387,000 for Norfolk County after four property owners coughed up years of unpaid taxes and three high bidders walked away from their purchases.
Only one of the 11 properties initially put on the auction block in the fall actually sold at the Nov. 5 auction. But tax collector Rob Fleming explained the point of the exercise was not to sell the properties but to compel their owners to settle their property tax bills.

Pair accused in Norfolk arson spree head back to court
It has been nearly a year since a pair of Norfolk County men were charged with setting 11 fires during a months-long arson spree that rattled the rural community.
Chad Reimer, 43, and Matthew Smith, 30, were arrested the night of Jan. 26, 2025.
They were pulled over because their pickup truck matched the description of a vehicle seen leaving the scene of a barn fire on Lynn Valley Road, east of Port Dover, earlier that evening.
The pair were charged with 11 counts of arson
