Zehr Insurance classic car show draws more than 100 vintage vehicles

More than 100 vintage cars and trucks rolled into Tavistock last week for another successful Zehr Insurance Classic Car Show, raising money for a local community organization.

Held in the parking lot behind Tavistock Mennonite Church after being postponed one day because of rain, the annual event attracted 110 vehicles from across southwestern Ontario.

From 1940s classics to vehicles from the 1980s, the show featured a wide variety of meticulously restored cars and trucks. Convertibles and hardtops alike gleamed in showroom condition as owners shared the history of their prized vehicles with visitors.

Many participants displayed information cards on their dashboards outlining the year, engine specifications and original retail price of their vehicles. In many cases, the classics have appreciated significantly in value over the years, reflecting strong demand among collectors.

The show also served as a fundraiser for TAP (Tavistock Assistance Program).

Organizer and Zehr Insurance branch manager Kurtis Waymouth said the event raised $1,888 for the organization, including a $500 donation from the nearby Toyota manufacturing plant.

Waymouth thanked the approximately 20 sponsors whose support helped make the event possible, including Quehl's Restaurant, Yantzi Home Hardware, Moss Berry Farm, Amkad, Built Fitness, Lynn River Farms, Straight Up Auto, Caveman Firestarters, Urban Barber, Joe's Diner, K&K Racing, Bentley's Bar and Inn, Honeywood Tirecraft, Deep Purple Lavender Farm, Picard's, Cineplex, PuroClean, COBS Bread, Tavistock Shell and Mike's Lanes.
