Woodstock sisters raise funds for cancer research

Two young sisters, Maelyn and Hadley, inspired their neighbourhood and helped kick off their school’s Terry Fox Run by hosting a three day lemonade stand fundraiser from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Set up on a sunny stretch of late summer weather, the sisters spent the weekend serving cold lemonade to neighbours, families, and passersby throughout their Woodstock community. Their goal was simple and heartfelt — to raise $100 in support of the Terry Fox Foundation and honour Terry’s legacy of courage and determination. By the end of the third day, donations had surpassed their goal, reflecting the generosity of local residents and the enthusiasm the girls brought to their project. Their parents provided supplies, supervision, and encouragement, and even purchased a family set of 2026 Terry Fox Foundation t shirts to celebrate the effort. Every dollar collected will be donated directly to the Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research. The sisters’ lemonade stand became a cheerful gathering point for neighbours and a reminder of how Terry Fox’s message continues to inspire Canadians of all ages. Their contribution adds to the momentum leading into this year’s school Terry Fox Run, demonstrating how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact.
