‘Ultimate Burger Battle’ returns to Northumberland

Northumberland residents can take a bite out of an upcoming fundraiser in support of the United Way.
United Way Northumberland’s “Ultimate Burger Battle” returns Nov. 1 to 30, bringing together 15 local restaurants for “a month-long celebration of great burgers and community giving.”
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Ultimate Burger Battle invites residents to visit participating restaurants, try their featured burgers and vote for their favourite. With $2 from every participating burger sold going directly to United Way Northumberland, purchases help support programs that make a difference across the community, said the organization.
This year, 15 restaurants are ready to serve up their contenders and invite the community to decide which burger deserves the title.
“We are so excited to bring back the Ultimate Burger Battle,” said Alicia Vandine, executive director of United Way Northumberland. “Last year, people across the county rallied around a fun, local initiative that gave them something delicious to sink their teeth into.
“It’s a simple way to support local programs that make a difference, and this year we’re thrilled to have 15 local restaurants joining the battle.”
Residents can take part by visiting a participating restaurant in November and ordering its featured “Ultimate Burger Battle” creation. Then, they are asked to scan the QR code on the campaign materials to cast a vote for the best burger and help determine this year’s winner.
The participating restaurants are: Arthur’s Pub in Cobourg, Big Boy’s Burgers in Cobourg, Captain’s Table in Hastings, Cobourg Diner in Cobourg, County Heaven Pub in Cobourg, Jack’s Barrel House in Cobourg, Lakeview Bar and Grill in Bewdley, McGillicaggey’s in Hastings, Olympus Burger in Port Hope, Prep Food Co. in Cobourg, the Smokehouse Tap and Grill in Brighton, Sunny Side Diner in Port Hope, the Carlyle in Port Hope, the Mill Restaurant in Cobourg and Thirsty Goose in Port Hope.
Outside of government, United Way Northumberland is described as the largest funder of social service programs in the area. United Way Northumberland has been striving to improve the lives of people living in Northumberland County since 1969.
