The Stratford Perth Museum has received a major financial boost toward a new permanent audience canopy at its outdoor performance space.

Tradition Mutual Insurance Company, based in Sebringville, recently helped launch the museum’s Blue Sky Canopy Campaign with a $50,000 lead gift.

The campaign has a goal of raising $120,000 to install a permanent canopy over the audience area at the museum’s Player’s Backstage outdoor performance space, west of Stratford.

Museum managing director Kelly McIntosh said the contribution will go a long way toward getting the campaign off the ground and improving the experience for people attending performances and other events.

The Stratford Perth Museum continues to offer a mix of history, exhibitions, plays and entertainment for residents and visitors from across the region.

McIntosh and the museum team have also continued working to ensure the organization remains sustainable and able to offer programming for years to come.

Residents who want to support the museum can also become members. Memberships start at $40 and include free museum admission for one year, early access and discounts for select events, and a 10 per-cent discount at the museum gift shop.
