The Town of St. Marys announced July 2 that town council has proclaimed July as Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Month in St. Marys, recognizing the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s (CBHFM) significant contributions to Canadian baseball, tourism, and the St. Marys community.

The CBHFM welcomes thousands of visitors each year and celebrates the achievements of Canada’s baseball legends.

As part of this special month, the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will offer free admission for St. Marys residents July 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing an opportunity to explore the museum, enjoy the grounds and cheer on local teams.

Scott Crawford, director of operations at the CBHFM, was appreciative in response to the announcement by the municipality.

“This is a wonderful commitment by the Town of St. Marys to continually show their support to us here at the hall of fame,” Crawford told the Independent. “We are proud to be in St. Marys and can’t wait to celebrate baseball together.”

St. Marys CAO Brent Kittmer highlighted the hall’s importance to St. Marys and the pride the town has in the national landmark as a driving force behind the proclamation.

“Council’s proclamation of July as Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum month in St. Marys recognizes the town’s long history and tradition of baseball, and the importance of the CBHFM in the community,” said Kittmer. “The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame is a source of pride for St. Marys. Council is always happy to support the CBHFM’s efforts in connecting our community to the rich history of baseball in Canada while welcoming visitors from across the country to experience the spirit, stories and traditions that they hold within their walls.”
