There will be ‘music in the air’ at the Old Town Hall

If you have ever driven through Waterford, down our beautiful Main Street, you would have noticed a majestic looking building on the corner of Main Street South and Temperance Street – 76 Main Street to be exact.

In its day and prime, the facility served many purposes including the local tax office, a theatre for plays and Christmas concerts, town gatherings… a true community building for all. Some even say it was a temporary hospital for war wounded vets.

Now owned, operated and funded by the Old Town Hall Association, the building continues to serve the community and offers a variety of shows, performers, concerts, artists. It’s a hub for a number of activities for young and old alike. The latest on their books was a successful presentation of ‘The Sound of Music - Youth Edition.’

As the weather warms Old Town Hall brings the entertainment outdoors with their free Thursday Night Lawn Concerts. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and settle in for an evening of great local talent. (The concert will be moved indoors in the case of rain.)

Refreshments will be available and there will be a goodwill collection that will go to the band/entertainment with any profit going to the Hall. The Summer Lawn Concert Series kicked off Thursday, June 25th at 7 p.m. featuring the Haldimand Norfolk Concert Band – a true crowd favorite!

Next up, it’s The Shrubberies & Sarah Church on Thursday, July 2, followed by Don Dunham & Kathy Tyrell on July 9, Mike Hogg & Rachel Heart on July 16, the Crooked Stovepipe Band on July 23, and Jess Rayner & Shaun Mulrain on July 30.

The concerts wrap up August 27 with an epic community BBQ and pub night celebration. Old Town Hall is what some might say a true gem right here in our own back yard and is open Tuesday through Friday from 12-4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Be sure to check out the featured art of local talented artists. While there is no charge to visit the Hall donations are always welcome.
