The beauty of sunflowers in Norfolk

We have some of the most beautiful countryside right here in and/or near Waterford and my hubby and I often choose to take a ride just to enjoy the scenery.
Recently we took some time to stop and snap a photo or two of one of our county’s most colourful crops - sunflowers.
Here in Norfolk County, we grow and harvest a number of varied crops and each year I look forward to this time and season when they are at their best. Truth be told, there is nothing more breathtaking than a field of sunflowers in bloom and, at present, they are out in full
force. Acres upon acres of the flowers ‘searching’ for the sun offer the opportunity to snap a quick photo… or two… or three.
Sunflowers not only offer the perfect photo op but they are used in so many ways with one of the most popular being as a snack food… just ask any baseball player! Crops are also grown for bird feed and sunflower oil.
Take a drive off the beaten path and snap a few pics yourself, always showing respect for the flowers and farmer’s field/private property. Take only pictures and do it safely! Enjoy the beauty in Norfolk County and be appreciative of all it has to offer.
