‘Thank you for believing in this hospital’: Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation CEO

From viewing the new nuclear medicine camera to checking out a new MRI machine, hospital donors in Northumberland recently caught a glimpse of what their financial contributions made possible.
The Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) Foundation welcomed about 60 donors to the hospital for a behind-the-scenes look at five recent projects made possible through community support.
“This afternoon’s tour gives us a wonderful opportunity to move beyond simply talking about the impact of philanthropy and instead to see it firsthand,” said Rhonda Cunningham, NHH Foundation CEO. “Your generosity, your commitment and your belief in the importance of exceptional healthcare have made an extraordinary difference to our hospital and most importantly, to the patients and families we serve.”
Invited guests participating in the tour took a look at key projects and equipment their donations helped support, including the new SPECT CT nuclear medicine camera, the new MRI machine, and new laboratory analyzers. They received updates on the progress towards renovations of the medical device reprocessing department (MDRD), and the creation of a new operating suite.
“Our community’s impact can be seen, felt, and heard inside our hospital,” said Cunningham. “I hope that when you walk into each of these spaces, you will feel a tremendous sense of pride in knowing that you helped make these improvements possible.”
The foundation’s CEO acknowledged the hospital team members who joined the tour to share expertise and enthusiasm for the work they do with attendees, as well as the dedicated hospital leadership and project managers, who helped bring key investments from ideas to reality. She also introduced NHH President and CEO Susan Walsh.
“Growth and continuous enhancement of NHH services would not be possible without the generous support of many community donors,” said Walsh. “These growth projects undertaken at NHH in the past year are the result of the hard work of many teams at the hospital and I congratulate them on completing these projects on time and on budget while also juggling many other competing priorities.
NHH remains committed to continuously improving our services and bringing patient care closer to home. We are grateful to our donors and the work of the foundation.”
NHH’s chief of staff Dr. Paul Ketov also shared remarks during the event.
Prior to the start of the tour, Cunningham reiterated the foundation’s gratitude.
“Thank you for believing in this hospital,” she said. “Thank you for investing in our community.
“And thank you for helping us ensure that our health-care professionals have the equipment, technology, and environment they need to provide the very best care possible.”
