Calling all curling enthusiasts in the Tavistock area; the local curling season is just about to begin, and organizers are encouraging both seasoned players and newcomers to get involved.

According to longtime curler Glen Weitzel, registration for the Tavistock Curling Club has been extended to Oct. 15 due to the postal strike, giving residents a bit more time to sign up. The club is also seeking participants for its popular Learn to Curl program, designed for those interested in trying the sport for the first time.

Anyone interested can visit tavistockcurlingclub.ca for more information or to register.

Weitzel says the club is deeply grateful to its many sponsors whose continued support makes it possible to maintain the ice and offer programs for the community year after year.

Ice logo sponsors include Dairy Farmers (Danen/Brenneman), B-W Feed and Supply, D&D Electric Ltd., Denise Drinkwalter, Five Star Custom Concrete, Premier Equipment Ltd., Quehl’s Restaurant and Catering, Tavistock IDA Pharmacy, the Wilmot-Tavistock Gazette, Yantzi’s Home Building Centre and Zehr Automotive.

Wall sign sponsors include Brian Wilhelm – Apple Home Builders, Josslin Insurance, Mohr Construction, Raymer Financial, Sam’s Your Independent Grocer, South Easthope Mutual Insurance Company, Tavistock Chiropractic and Wellness, Tavistock Veterinarians and Scotiabank.
