Tavistock firefighters raise $6,280 for Muscular Dystrophy

The Labour Day long weekend is always special for firefighters in Tavistock and many other fire stations across the province.

On Friday afternoon, the men and women from the local fire station took off their boots and collected cash from motorists at Tavistock's five corners. After counting all the $5s, $10s, $20s, $50s, and even $100s, along with mounds of loose change, they raised a whopping $6,280.50 for Muscular Dystrophy.

This organization has now been given thousands upon thousands of dollars over the years from members of the Tavistock Fire Department to Muscular Dystrophy, and all indications are that this will continue for years to come.

These local firefighters, who continue to answer the call day and night, would like to thank all those area motorists and even those walking for being so generous year after year in helping their very worthy cause.

They said they won’t give up until a cure is found.
