The Tavistock Curling Club is getting ready for another busy season, with the ice, rings and advertisements all in place for another fall and winter of curling.

The club is celebrating 50 years in 2026, having been established in 1976, and organizers say the sport continues to attract curlers of all ages from Tavistock and the surrounding area.

For many couples, curling offers a chance to get out together, enjoy the social atmosphere and get some exercise at the same time.

Those who have never curled before but would like to learn are invited to the curling rink beside the Tavistock Arena on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.

The club’s Learn to Curl program will run Wednesdays for five weeks, from Oct. 28 to Nov. 25.

The regular league schedule includes mixed adult curling Mondays at 7 p.m.; men’s adult curling Tuesdays at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.; ladies adult curling Wednesdays at 2 p.m.; and mixed adult curling Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m., moving to 7 p.m. beginning Dec. 2.

Thursdays include mixed adult curling at 1 p.m. and men’s adult curling at 7:30 p.m. on alternate weeks. Mixed adult curling is also offered Fridays at 7 p.m.

Youth curling takes place Saturdays at 10 a.m., while an adult social league runs every other Saturday afternoon. Scotch doubles are played Sundays at various afternoon times.

Organizers thanked the club’s 21 local sponsors, whose support helps make installation of the ice possible each year, and encouraged anyone interested in curling to take part this season.
