The Wellesley Agricultural Society and Wellesley Fall Fair committee continue to find new ways to bring the community together.
One of their latest successes was the third annual Taste the Culture: Spring Around the World event, held in late May and attended by hundreds of residents from across Wellesley Township.
The event was created to celebrate the growing cultural diversity within the township and provide an opportunity for residents to learn about and experience traditions from around the world.
This year's program featured a variety of cultural performances, including Irish music, Bhangra dancers, Swiss Club alpenhorn players, accordion music and yodelling, as well as Caribbean and Jamaican-inspired music performed by LovesounD steel drummer.
Committee members said the event's purpose is to introduce, welcome and celebrate the many cultures that now call Wellesley Township home.
"Our mission is to educate, embrace and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that now thrives in the township as it continues its transition into a more multicultural society," committee members said.
In addition to the live entertainment, displays showcasing items and traditions from various countries gave attendees an opportunity to learn more about cultures represented throughout the community.
Organizers were pleased with the turnout and support shown by residents and look forward to hosting future Taste the Culture events.
Details about the next event will be announced at a later date.
