A field just off of Perth Line 29 on Perth Road 109, west of Tavistock, has become a popular stop for sunflower lovers.
Isabelle and Dillon Ossendryver have invited members of the community to visit their sunflower field. Visitors can cut their own sunflowers, stroll along a path through the field or simply enjoy the colourful blooms and take photographs.
In return, visitors are encouraged to make a donation to either the Kidney Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society, two causes important to the couple since family members have been impacted by these diseases.
The sunflower project has turned into a family affair. Isabelle Ossendryver’s dad, Rob Danen, mowed a path through the field to make it easier for visitors to stroll through the field to enjoy the sunflowers, while her sister-in-law, Alex Danen, created the signs welcoming visitors and providing information about the project.
The Ossendryvers hope the field will provide an opportunity for people to enjoy the beauty of the sunflowers while helping support two important causes.
