Both Stratford U16 Strikers squads continued their winning ways and overcame the heatwave last week on home turf.

The Stratford U16 Strikers Girls kept their unbeaten Southwest District Soccer League regular-season record intact with a 3-0 win over last-place Cambridge United at the VFG Field at the Stratford Festival Hydro Community Park on June 30.

Niamh Appel scored a brace and Rosie Sauder added a goal for the Strikers. With the win, Stratford improved their record to 5-2-0, collecting 17 of the possible 21 points through all seven games. Their next fixture is at RIM Park in Waterloo against Waterloo United on July 7.

On June 30, U16 Strikers Boys continued to produce positive results with a 4-1 win over RED Academy at VFG Field.

Miles Hallman and Hudson Welsh each scored a goal for Stratford, while Logan Wilson provided the brace in the win. With the win, the Strikers improved to 3-1-3, with 10 points, in sixth place in the Southwest District Soccer League standings. Their next match is on the road against Woolwich Wolfpack at the Lions Park in Elmira on July 7.

U18 Boys Strikers were idle last week. Their next scheduled fixtures are against Blue Mountains United in Thornbury on July 7, an U17/U18 Nothers Youth Cup second-round match versus Rockwood FC in Marden on July 10 and at RIM Park in Waterloo against Waterloo United.

The story of the July 7 results will be shown in next week’s edition of the Times.

U15 Strikers had their July 6 game postponed. Their next scheduled fixture is a home game against the Guelph Jr. Griffins in the second round of the U15 Nothers Youth Cup at Cowan Field on July 10. Stratford resumes regular season play on the road against the Puslinch Predators at Puslinch on July 13.
