Stratford’s Small-Town Strip Club will be opening for a big-name Canadian rock band.
Small-Town Strip Club will perform at the Tailgate Music Festival in Mitchell, Ont. On Sept. 25 ahead of The Trews. The Tailgate Music Festival, hosted by SpottyDawg Productions, is a two-day music festival with a rock music night and a country music night on Sept. 26.
"It feels unbelievable,” said Johann Yundt, lead singer of Small-Town Strip Club. “We've been a fan of the Trews for a really, really long time and actually more recently we got to record with a couple of the members of the Glorious Sons who recorded the Trews’ last album, so we've been kind of on their radar and kind of on the vision board to hop on a show with the Trews for a while. So it's cool that it's coming to fruition and especially near our hometown, too."
The upcoming performance at Tailgate will be the first time Yundt and the band will be attending.
"It's been very well anticipated,” he said. “I heard it's a really cool thing for Mitchell so we're excited to both perform and just attend the festival too. Even for the country night, we're really pumped to see the James Barker Band."
Feral Minks, an Ontario rock band who opened for the Glorious Sons multiple times, and Andy Colonico, who collaborated with Small-Town Strip Club on the song “"Can't Put a Price on a Good Time” will also perform on the Rock Night. Colonico also recently won the Lucknow Music in the Fields Emerging Artist honour, which Small-Town Strip Club won years ago.
"The rock night is certainly stacked with a bunch of up-and-coming rock and even bands with a little bit of country flavour. We have a couple of acts that we're actually pretty close with,” Yundt said.
Tickets for the Tailgate Music Festival are $59.99 for the Rock Night, $69.99 for the Country Night and $109.99 for the full weekend, plus fees and tax. To purchase tickets online, visit https://tailgatemusicfestival.com.
